Our mission at BIFC is twofold: to afford all children that want to play football the opportunity to do so and to be one of the best youth football clubs in Basel. We believe it’s possible to be both inclusive and play at a high level. We believe we will reach our goals by continuing to value community, diversity and hard work. When we think of our young club, we are all genuinely filled with pride. We are proud of the sense of camaraderie we have fostered in just a couple of years. We are proud that we are comprised of children from all over the world, representing twenty-four countries. We might speak different languages and have different cultures but this makes us very special and unique and we all share the passion of Football! We are very proud of all our teams that put forth their best efforts every time they step on the pitch. We expanded our girls Program from one team in the Spring of 2019 to four girls only teams in the fall of 2020! In looking toward the future, we will continue to take great pride in dreaming big and working hard together to achieve our goals. Allez allez BIFC!
who we are
Our Club At a Glance
BIFC was founded out of a growing need in the Basel area to provide a welcoming Football Club that was geared towards the International Community.
It all started on a field in Bruderholz were the kids met and played for fun. The interest was high and it was soon clear to found an official Club and become part of the Football Association. It was challenging for our members to join local clubs due long waitlists and a lack of experience.
The “football for all” approach was the spark and the Basel International Football Club was born. Everyone was welcome no matter who they were, the language they speak, their skill level or where they were from.
We will always welcome everyone to our Club and are pleased that some local players are already a part of BIFC as well. As a member of the FVNWS it is equally important that we welcome and create relationships with our local Basel community.

The demand is high – which is good and bad at the same time. As much as we would love to offer every player a place on a team we unfortunately have a waitlist in most age groups. We were not happy about this circumstance and the BIFC Academy was born so that we can offer each child the possibility to play and develop their skills although they cant be part of one of our teams – yet!
Instead of spending month on a waitlist doing nothing, we offer a Program where kids can practice their skills and can play with friends while waiting for a spot on one of our teams. Also for some families the commitment of weekly matches and practice twice a week is too much but your child still loves to play in a fun way – than the Academy is the right place to be…!
Kinderspass, Junior G and Academy practice is ones a week. Our Junior F players practice twice a week, attendance is mandatory once a week only but of course everyone can come to both practice and we encourage that. From Junior E / FF12 and older teams practice is mandatory twice a week!
This is depends on the team and is hard to say in general. Our youngest members of the Club (G and Gmädchen) practice on the weekends, all other teams practice at least once during the week. Once you got in touch with we will provide you with more information.
The Swiss Football Organization has several subdivisions by Region. We are part of the FVNWS (Fußballverband Nordwestschweiz) with about 100 Clubs in the Region of Northwest Switzerland. Depending on the age group there is a big number of Clubs with teams.
We practice from August till June all year round. Outdoors in Spring and Fall and indoors in the Winter. The teams participating in tournaments and the weekly matches are usually taking place between Mid August and Beginning of November in the fall and Mid March and Mid/End June in the spring. Junior G and F players participate in tournaments in the fall and spring. The Championship for Junior E / FF12 and above consists of 10 matches each in the Fall and Spring.
We are thrilled to hear from you please contact Aishah our Membership coordinator under Membership@bifc.ch so that she can provide you with more details. We need to know your child’s name and year of birth, to provide you with more information – that’s all!
